The new TT pads were designed as a larger, wider option. TT stands for tilt-table style padding which are typically simpler support surfaces and when paired with padded positioning straps can be a simpler platform for transfers and standing. The unique shape does allow for maximum adjustability and use of lateral supports when necessary.
